The main themes of Hamlet are Madness, Revenge and death, goals, and gender. Madness is seen throughout the course of the play, we never really know if Hamlet is crazy or not. Revenge is common starting from Act 1, scene 5 when Hamlet decides he wants to avenge his father. The connection between goals and death was not seen until the end of the play. We realize that all of the characters that were sneaking around ended up dying. What a coincidence. Gender roles was seen from when Ophelia was being controlled by her father and brother and Gertrude by Claudius
